The Ashera Cat: An Exquisite and Elusive Feline

Origins and History

The Ashera Cat is a rare and majestic breed of cat known for its striking appearance and exceptional size. It originated from a genetic engineering experiment in the early 2000s, combining the genes of the African Serval, Asian Leopard Cat, and domestic cat.

The breed was developed by Lifestyle Pets, a company founded by Simon Brodie, a geneticist, and Chris Shirk, a veterinarian. Their goal was to create a hypoallergenic cat with the wild, exotic look of a big cat.

Physical Characteristics

Size and Build

The Ashera Cat is one of the largest domesticated cat breeds, rivaling the size of a medium-sized dog. Males typically weigh between 12 and 30 pounds, while females range from 8 to 15 pounds.

They have a muscular and athletic build, with long, slender bodies and powerful legs. Their paws are large and well-padded, providing them with exceptional balance and agility.

Coat and Coloration

Ashera Cats boast a distinctive and luxurious coat that comes in three recognized colors: "Royal Silver," "Snow White," and "Spotted/Tabby." The "Royal Silver" is the most common and has a soft, silvery-gray base with dark charcoal markings resembling the coat of a snow leopard.

Temperament and Personality

Affection and Sociability

Despite their exotic appearance, Ashera Cats are exceptionally affectionate and sociable cats. They crave human companionship and attention, forming strong bonds with their owners.

They are playful and interactive, enjoying games and activities that engage their intelligence and physical abilities.

Trainability and Intelligence

Ashera Cats are highly intelligent and trainable. They can learn tricks and commands with ease and are often described as "dog-like" in their responsiveness and loyalty.
